Throughout the school year, we will cover several themes, each lasting about one month. Basic concepts in language (letter recognition, printing, pre-reading, reading, etc), math (counting, numeral recognition, patterning, sorting etc.) and science, will be taught by means of theme circles, creative activities, music, reading, physical activities and play. The program will also be enriched with a basic introduction to the French language, some sign language, Bible stories and memory verses. Field trips will be organized about once a month. There will also be some special parent days which provide a great opportunity for you to see what your child has been learning at school. A formal music program will also be offered part way through the year. (See note in following information.) A progress report will be issued in December and May.
Discipline is a necessary ingredient to the well being of children. Children feel secure and loved when they know their boundaries. Loving discipline encourages children to respect each other and the property of others, ensures health and safety and helps to develop responsible citizens. At “Treasured Kids School”, children will be informed of their boundaries. These boundaries will be enforced in a loving but firm way.
School is a place for well children. For the protection of the other children and the comfort of your own child, please do not send a child who is not well. In the event your child becomes ill while at “Treasured Kids”, I will make your child as comfortable as possible and contact you for pick up as soon as possible. Please complete the Medical Information Form included when you click to register.
A series of post dated cheques dated for the first of each month (September- June) will be due at the time of registration. Cheques should be made payable to Sharon Kelsall.
E-transfers are also accepted (Sharon@kelsall.ca)
*Note: If paying by e-transfer,

Receipts will be issued in January and June.
*It is important to note that the monthly amount is averaged out over the year, so that the same amount is paid each month, even though the number of days per month will vary.

In most cases, we will follow the Simcoe County Board of Education’s decision regarding bus/school cancellations. Therefore, if the buses are not running, school at “Treasured Kids” will most likely be cancelled. An email will be sent in the morning to inform you of this decision. Unfortunately, as time does not permit, these days will not be made up. Extra “free” days have been accommodated into the cost of the program in case cancellations do occur.
We will roughly follow the holiday and P.A. Day schedule based on the Simcoe County Board of Education school year calendar. However, school will begin one week later and will end the second week in June. You will be notified of specific dates each month by means of a monthly calendar and newsletter.
If your child is ill, or absent for another reason, payment will not be refunded for those days. Please notify me if your child will be absent. In the event that I am sick, I will inform you as soon as possible and cancel school for that day. If this should this occur, a make-up day will be scheduled.
Occasionally, it may be necessary to adjust our schedule, as from time to time, conflicts occur with my own family commitments. Thank you in advance for your flexibility regarding this. I will do my best to inform you of any changes in a timely manner.
Parents are responsible for delivery and pick up of their child at the appointed times.
Field Trips are meant to enhance your child’s learning and are usually tied into a theme being taught at school. They will provide hands on opportunities to experience and reinforce lessons learned at school. Field trips are also a great way to develop community with parents/families of other children at Treasured Kids School.
Field trips will take place approximately once a month. Both the Pre-K class and Pre-K/JK/SK classes will be combined for these trips; therefore they may not fall on your child’s regular school day. Field trips will take the place of your child’s regular class that week. Depending on the nature of the trip, there may be a fee which I will collect at that time. I will also require drivers/chaperones. Your assistance at this time would be greatly appreciated.
Please complete the field trip permission form when you click to register.
*An appropriate car seat/booster must be provided for your child for field trips
A music class will be provided, taught by a qualified music teacher, for both the Pre-K and Pre-K/ JK/SK classes. This is a ten week session taught once a week (classes are between 40-60 minutes) beginning in January. The additional cost for this program will be approximately $140.00 per student. The exact amount will be confirmed closer to the start date.
